The IG Philosophy series is dedicated to exploring Instagram accounts that use words, imagery, and art to delve into ideas surrounding life, healing, love, equality, and other topics that touch our humanity.
Hello and welcome to the IG Philosophy series! My name is Paola and I am the artist and textile designer, behind Paola Melendez | Casa. I love writing about color, design, wellness, and food.
Over the last year, I've been hearing a lot of discussion regarding the negative impact of social media on our mental health. Things like FOMO and unrealistic beauty standards, promoted on applications like Instagram, are being singled out as a source for anxiety and depression amongst today's social media users. I am starting this series in hopes of bringing more inspiration, positivity, understanding, and inclusivity into people's feed. My pick for today is one of my favorite IG accounts @yung_pueblo. Diego Perez is the meditator, poet, and speaker behind the account and pen name Yung Pueblo, which means, “young people.” Through his writing, he aims to support the healing of the individual, realizing that when we release our personal burdens, we contribute to global peace.
I have been a fan of his writing for a really long time and his posts always bring unexpected moments of introspection, wisdom, and joy to my Instagram scrolling sessions. Check out some of my favorite posts below and follow @yung_pueblo for more of his transformative words.
